As a former owner of a TM M14 I am going to purchase a second one. My uzi is my tactical CQB weapon, the MC51 my all-purpose assault rifle, and this M14 will fulfill any support/sniper applications I might need.
So, now my questions for Jinx... If i get this gun and slap an M120 spring in her I can fire 400fps+ and, according to a review on airsoft extreme, get a BB flight path of 180 feet. Obviously I would probably just be getting 2 or 3 mags and leaving this in semi-auto exclusively so this would essentially be my "sniper rifle." I am thinking of getting a lipo (the battery storage kind of sucks, so a small lipo would allow me to get more battery into the stock) but wouldn't be firing on full auto very frequently. If I am upgrading this gun without any care about my ROF and total focus on range, aside from an M120 and a barrel what else would be included in a good upgrade?

sry to highjack thread but speaking of lipo bats. How much of an improvement would I see with one for my M733? have to buy new bats for it so I was wondering. also might get one for the mp5. Thoughts?

Well, according to Jinx the general rule with Lipos is that you'll see a big increase in ROF and more power from a smaller battery at the expense of losing the longevity of your internals.

That is exactly correct Cheez, a lipo battery is only good for guns shooting over 350 FPS otherwise your ROF will be through the roof and your more than likely going to tear your internals apart.
My M4 is Lipo ready...it has ball bearing bushings which makes everything run much smoother and a whole list of reinforced gears/internals so the strain and wear and tear isn't so much.
I would make sure you change your bushings, and do a full tune up kit on the M14. Hopefully those have a 7mm bearing gearbox than you can throw in the ball bearings and the gun would run smooth. As a support/sniper I would even throw the FPS up a little more and use .25-.30 and your accuracy would be great.
For now the M14 will be a great addition and just start by upgreading the whole gearbox in order to get that 400 FPS while getting the gearbox at a reliable state.
Stash, upgrade your internals and to a M110-120 spring also and your gearbox will able to handle the Lipo like a champ. Get in touch with elmo on IAA if you want good cheap batteries that will last you quite awhile. He can make them custom for you too.

I already have the m110 spring in both guns. I guess the next step would be the gear box. I believe bushing also have been upgraded on both guns.

I'm going to have to give this some debate... I love my MC-51 and I'm not really looking to sink a ton of money into another super-gun (like $600 into a Tokyo Marui M14 upgraded beyond 400fps)...
I'll bring this up again when June rolls around and it's time to buy my new gun. ;-)
