Whoo Hoo! Toastie is in business! After much deliberation and tough decision making for a weapon I decided to go with the Upgraded JG M4A1. I had originally ordered the old version ($115) but then phoned back and asked if they (airsoftgi.com) would give me a 10% discount if I upgraded to the next model. They did. So for $135 I got a new one! I've got a couple Q's after shooting it for a day. 1.) it sems like the BBs rise a little bit at the end of their trajectory, is there a way to straighten them out? (it's not too bad, but just before they go out of view they go upwards) I'm getting the impression that maybe I should shoot .25 BBs? Recommendations? 2.) The battery it came with (8.4v 1100mah NiMH) only lasted for about 4 clips worth of shots (1200 shots-ish) on a mix between fully auto and semi auto. I charged it for 5 hours before using it (trickle charger? the one it came with). Is that normal life, cuz it seems pretty short to me. Suggestions? T. p.s. I'm trying to load pics, but someone will have to give me a hand, I'm a Mac user and not very familliar with HTML... I push the pic button and it just gives me img /img how do i link it? Congrats! 1. The BB's curve up due to the hop up. Pull the charging handle back to expose the hop up dial, adjust accordingly. You want the BB's to stay as flat as possible. 2. The gun is probably shooting over 400 fps, so yes the stock battery will not last very long. Charge times vary but on trickle charge it should take ~6 hours. Make sure that you don't overcharge the battery, and try to discharge it once every other month or so, depending on usage. 3. Go to photobucket.com and make an account. After you upload the pics you can post them pretty much anywhere. note: If your gun shoots over 400 fps you will not be allowed to use it at major events. You may want to also buy a few non-winding mags for major events as well.

1.) Do you know where I can find instructions on how to adjust the hop up?
2.) How would I decrease the fps to get it down to a rate that's under 400?
3.) How often do they have major events, and do they run on Saturdays or Sundays? (I ask because Saturdays are out for me)
4.) Do you still have the other JG for sale? I ask cuz some of my friends may want a gun as well and if so I could give them the option.

1. Hop up is the reason their arcing which is the reason the hop up is there, to give you more range. The hop up should be accessable by pulling the charging handle and reavealing the hop up unit where the "bolt"would be on a real firearm. The hop up unit has a wheel than can be turned clockwise or counter-clockwise. Going counter should make the bb's drop and going clockwise should give the bb's lift. I would use .25's since the newer JG's are a higher FPS and would stabalize the bb a little more. In airsoft you have to get the concept that the bb will only travel straight for so long before droping. I would say that would be a good "sighting in" point. Thereafter putting more hop up will make the bb travel further but will eventually arc down as it loses velocity. The trick is to shoot and get accustomed to your gun's range. Who did you order from?
2. The batteries guns come with are decent but won't hold up. I would suggest with any 8.4 or 9.6 (higher ROF) to get 2200Mah and up. The higher the Mah rating the longer it will last. 3000 Mah is Good and buy a couple batteries just in case one runs out.
3.Depending on who you ordered from {I see airsoftgi now} well there should have been a piece of paper with a chrono reading on it along with a signiture stating that the gun was fired and was fine. If you are shooting higher you can change the spring in the gun to give it a lower FPS rating. We'll leave opening the gearbox to another day.
4. The IAA has major event a couple times a year and are trying to get a lot more this year. We have small skirmishes quite a bit during the summer and I attend a couple in Portage/Hobart IN at Blast Camp every month.
