not what you want to spend your hard earned money on. look into JG, echo 1, or ca sportline each can be picked up for around $200 shipped and shoot around 300-350 fps.

thanks psyus that shouldn't be out of price range but the only problem is usually when you buy online you need a credit card/debit card which i don't have nor do my folks so do you know of any places around where i could buy those brands?

only used off other players unfortunately i know some of the [rr] members are willing to part with some old guns i myself have a loner gun avalable for use at a [rr] events so even if you just get some gear and come check out one of our skirmishes you will be taken care of... its good to see more interest in the area

Welcome to the boards Sandman!
Essentials are: FULL SEAL goggles Camo Good pair of boots. Airsoft Gun. - Thats all you need to play until you buy more magazines for your gun(in which you would need to invest in a chest rig).
For an airsoft gun that walmart special wont last very long in the field and you will be heavily out-gunned. Like Psyus said, look into Echo 1, JG, Cyma, D-boys, and A&K. Classic Army and G&G make sportsline models which are plastic models but come with their brand name(good internals, ect.)
Try Airsoftgi.com or if not you can get on paypal and create an account with a checking account and pay online that way. Also check out Ebay since they always have used guns on there for great prices.

Pants are going to run you about 12-25 bucks at Sarge's place(Surplus store). Some of his prices are real high but that's because he's a small store owner and has to make a profit but clothes are a bargain at his place.
While your there pick up a ranger hat/boonie if he has them in stock. You don't want to run around bare-headed.
Paintball masks work fine. Some of them have the googles that you can take off too.
Gunnyssurplus.com has insanely low prices on surplus stuff also.

you'll probally want the parachutist version since it has a head strap which is good for running and crawling around.
