echo 1 g36's are a great starter gun and a great gun in itself. It's compact but yet seems like a rilfe. A silencer with an extended barrel will put you at great accuracy down the line.
It carries a Ver. 3 gearbox which is the strongest of gearboxes I've handled so upgrades shouldn't be a problem down the line.
I would check out ebay and take a gander at some Classic Army s G36's. Some go around 180-250 for packages and there's alot of them right now on ebay. I would check and see if you can catch a deal. echo 1's are good quality but a CA or Mauri will last you longer and are great quality. I'll post some links for you.
I would buy maybe 5-8 G36 midcap mags too so you can get the full milsim experience. Oh and don't forget to get some batteries while your at it. When you get your gun let me know and I'll contact elmo on our IAA boards and he can make you good batteries for cheap then buying them from a site.

Just a word of advice... When you get int the realm of Classic Army/Tokyo Marui AEGs the round you use starts to become very important. Either of those brands can be very temperamental if you're not using a top quality round. Airsoft Elite, Airsoft Elite, Airsoft Elite. We should just make the AEs part of our uniform.
With a very good round and proper care the CA is rock solid. Some of their older models had some issues but look at it this way: If something breaks replace it with an even better Systema, Prometheus, or King Arms part.

Thats not a bad price.
CA internals are pretty good but it's just a couple small things that make them a pain in the ass. The piston rubber washer will need replacing if there's loss of compression and the wiring+connectors are just iffy. That's about $47 to make it good.
You can't go wrong with a metal body gun either.
I would take it if I were you.
The batteries I think he sells range in price but last time I saw he was making 9.6 3300 for $25 which is very very cheap and should last you a whole day of skirmishing.
Upgrades are a plenty for ver.2 gearboxes, so like cheez said, anything breaks, you can replace them with better parts.
