Hey, Jeeves has an MC51 for sale so I have a new idea for an AEG. I'll buy Jeeves' gun if i get my loan check in time, otherwise I may just buy a second MC51 or a G3 SAS at a later date. So, here's the idea:
I take the original gun, buy a surplus G3A3 stock from cheaperthandirt (they're seriously like $10 for the stock plus foregrip) and throw it on i find a way to modify the stock to take as big of a battery as possible. Then I do the usual internal upgrades, aim for 400fps or more. Then, here's the fun part... I get a G3A3 RIS system and make the gun G3A3 length, plus slap a silencer on the end to fit as much inner barrel (a 6.01) in there as possible. Then, because nobody sells G3-length inner barrels, I will probably have to take the MC51 inner barrel and maybe even buy a second MC51 inner barrel and machine them and weld them into a single piece for stability.
Slap on a scope, bipod, and a cheek guard and I have a custom G3 sniper. It'd be cheaper than the M14 and, depending on my silencer, I'd still be able to find a way to fit close to 500mm of barrel into the gun. it's worth a shot, plus I can use the same mags.

Actually, just an update... I didn't realize that the G3 SG1 wasn't discontinued like the G3A3 and G3A4. I might just get an SG1 from Hong Kong and then do the work on that platform.

I know... My MC51 just needs an inner barrel and a silencer (to sneak another few millimeters in) and then I'm done upgrading... There isn't much I can do to my Uzi so I need a new toy. I love the M14 but the G3 platforms are my absolute favorite guns. I'll have to throw prices together to help me decide.

I don't know... I love the M14 but the gun plus an RIS and scope would be around $700 and that's without a single upgrade part. The G3/SG-1 idea is starting to appeal to me. That link you sent me is precisely what I want... Then I can put a pistol grip on the front and get a box mag that holds a few thousand rounds... viola, support weapon. I'd have to check with IAA rules but, given the fact that it would LOOK like a support weapon it should be acceptable. redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/ProductDetail?prodID=16458Imagine either of those guns with an RIS and a pistol foregrip. Scha-wing! I might even check how big of a battery would fit inside of the foregrip and get an swinging UMP-style stock.

nice. i might actually get a THIRD G3 at some point... then I'll have one set up as a rifle (my current gun), one internally set up to be a LMG (under 399fps, box mag, etc) and then the SG1 set up as a sniper rifle. I love the G3.

Hey, update... i am now thinking of a new, custom idea. Now, if i have a support and a sniper weapon I won't need an assault rifle so the MC51 would be useless (or I'd have to sell it). Now, my MC51 fires 370, under the 399 required for support weapons. i could, in theory, slap a box mag on it, a bipod on the front... Then it could sort of be an H&K 23E paratrooper version. I could run a lipo to beef up my ROF. That way I could focus more money/effort into just building a sniper G3 SG1.
I'm talking to Solution_Zero to see if that would be legal.
