Hey, Jinx. I just created this thread for discussion on the fate of my poor, sick little MC51.
God, please tell me it's something simple... I'm broke as hell as-is and a major repair will kill me.

Well I got home from work and went straight to work on what the hell happened to your gun. When I opened your gearbox I was amazed to find a complete unbroken gearbox in perfect shape.  The good news is your gearbox is in good shape, the Bad news is that your gun is still messed up a tad. The gearbox fires in semi and full auto and the motor is in good condition(pinion gear is a little worn but nothing major) When pulling the trigger in semi the motor will turn a tad bit then one more trigger pull will produce a full cycle but the cycle timing is way off. The culprit I thought was the anti-reversal latch since the piston was all the way back when I first opened the gearbox. The latch seemed to swivel back and forth which baffled me because all that I've handled never swiveled. So I swapped it out with a reinforced Guarder one I had laying around. Now the culprit (I think) is the bearings. The Bevel gear (contacts the motor) is sliding up and down a little bit and I think it's not enforceing the reversal latch like it should so the fix would to be glueing the bearings to the gearbox. (Bearings do sometimes have to be glued in because aftermart bearing aren't a perfect fit) Glueing the bearings should allow the Bevel gear to stay in place and allow the full cycle. I should have more info a little bit. |

You know, I would be pissed about buying new bushings only to replace them a week later but, if it makes more sense, I could just upgrade to a reinforced gearbox if that's the problem...
Just let me know what the diagnosis is and how to avoid it happening again! :-P

The fun thing is that since creating this post I have had the song 6th avenue heartache by the wallflowers stuck in my head save for my substituting the words "MC51 heartache" for the actual lyrics.
